Recent Developments
We have been witnessing a revolution in the use of the Web, from static, brochure-like pages of text and graphics to a dynamic environment of rapid content generation and reuse engaging global participation. For the past decade, business professionals have developed and refined protocols for the reporting and analysis of interactive data in this environment. Those protocols are being adopted by governments, regulatory bodies, and investors to consume and manage financial and other business data on a large scale. That dynamic reporting and analysis is a growing part of what is referred to as Web 2.0, or the Semantic Web.
